Innovating Streets

Hamilton Kirikiriroa Innovating Streets (HKIS) is a recent project, trialing street layouts for Rostrevor Street and Ward Street.

 

Boon worked with the Hamilton City Council, to make these streets much nicer and safer for people. The new approach is called tactical urbanism.

The Hamilton community were involved in both the design and implementation phases, helping to create  a safer and more attractive environment for people who use our streets. Events were held allowing people to come together and use these spaces in a new and accessible way.

90% of the project was funded by Waka Kotahi-NZ Transport Agency's 'Innovating Streets for People' programme.
